UPI’s commitment doesn’t end when manufacturing is complete. From individual components to complex kits and assemblies, our team carefully organizes, packages, labels, documents, and prepares each order according to customer, program, and contract requirements.
Our in-house packing and kitting capabilities support both commercial and military packaging requirements. Whether a customer needs straightforward commercial packaging or a highly specified defense shipment, UPI can tailor the packaging approach to the application. We consolidate multiple components into complete, shipment-ready packages while protecting finished parts throughout handling, storage, and transportation.
For military and government programs, UPI supports contract-specific packaging requirements, including MIL-STD-2073 for military packaging, MIL-DTL-117 for flexible barrier bags, and applicable lumber requirements including ASTM D7478 and ASTM D6880. We also follow MIL-STD-129 requirements for military shipment marking and labeling, helping ensure packages are properly identified, traceable, and ready for their intended destination.
UPI also works with Special Packaging Instructions (SPI) and customer-specific packaging requirements when a program calls for packaging beyond standard specifications. Our team pays close attention to the details—from packaging materials and preservation to labeling, documentation, and kit configuration—to help ensure the correct components arrive protected, organized, and ready for use.
For defense and government programs, UPI is experienced in supporting on-site government inspections and quality requirements, working directly with local DCMA (Defense Contract Management Agency) personnel and QARs (Quality Assurance Representatives). This established working relationship helps coordinate required inspections, documentation, and release activities efficiently while supporting program schedules.
